Speech & Language Therapy provides treatment, support and care for children who have difficulties with speech, language or swallowing as in Speech and Language disorders , Hearing Impairment , Autistic Spectrum disorders, Intellectual disability, Multiple disability. In NIARC, our Speech therapists work with children individually on programmes such as Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), articulation programs and auditory verbal therapy. We also have group therapy sessions to promote interaction, communication and social skills. These programs are individualised according to child’s abilities and needs. The therapists work with parents to train them in how to encourage their children to communicate more. For children who require support with feeding or have swallowing difficulties, safe feeding strategies and swallowing techniques are also taught.
