Clinical child psychology is a specialty that develops and applies scientific knowledge to the delivery of psychological services to infants, toddlers, children and adolescents within their social context. Child Psychotherapy consists of variety of therapeutic techniques that helps the children to alleviate disruptive behaviors and to enhance adaptive behaviors. It mainly aims to improve a child’s well-being and mental health, to resolve or mitigate troublesome behaviours, beliefs, thoughts or emotions and to improve relationships and social skills.
In NIARC, our Psychologists deals with the children displaying a variety of psychological, behavioral, developmental, academic, family, peer and health-related difficulties in a variety of settings. They work with the children on one on one session, identifies the problems of the child, makes diagnostic formulations, and finalize the appropriate therapeutic strategies for the child by formulating the short term and long term goals. The therapist with the help of the caregiver carries out various principles of psychotherapy to the child and homework assignments are given for the better recovery of the child.
